Cumperi un roman, atunci cumperi \u0219i o can\u0103 frumoas\u0103 inscrip\u021bionat\u0103 cu \u00eenceputuri de roman. Faci o comand\u0103 de c\u0103r\u021bi pe un site, atunci pui \u00een co\u0219ul electronic \u0219i un set de ce\u0219ti \u0219i c\u00e2teva cutii de ceai sau un pachet de cafea. \u00ce\u021bi iei prin aplica\u021bie o carte \u00een format audio, atunci cau\u021bi \u0219i o can\u0103 de voiaj sau un termos de pus \u00een geant\u0103 sau \u00een rucsac. Cumperi o carte pentru copii, iei \u0219i o ciocolat\u0103 sau o cutie cu praline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unele libr\u0103rii cu dare de m\u00e2n\u0103 \u2013 C\u0103rture\u0219ti \u00een Bucure\u0219ti, La Central \u00een Madrid, FNAC \u00een Paris, Waterstones \u00een Londra etc. \u2013 te \u00eembie s\u0103-\u021bi tragi sufletul \u0219i, dac\u0103 ai timp, s\u0103 iei loc la mas\u0103 \u00een cafeneaua din incint\u0103, unde ron\u021b\u0103i un biscuit \u0219i savurezi o b\u0103utur\u0103 cald\u0103, un context numai bun ca s\u0103 stai un pic la taclale \u2013 poate chiar despre o carte. Dac\u0103 proprietarii au inspira\u021bia s\u0103 planteze de la bun \u00eenceput libr\u0103ria l\u00e2ng\u0103 un restaurant sau o teras\u0103, atunci comunitatea literar\u0103 \u2013 scriitori, traduc\u0103tori, editori, redactori, librari, cititori, critici, istorici etc. \u2013 va fi una mai bine hr\u0103nit\u0103, mai s\u0103n\u0103toas\u0103.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rela\u021bia dintre lectur\u0103 \u0219i hran\u0103 devine din ce \u00een ce mai evident\u0103 \u00een spa\u021biile de comercializare a c\u0103r\u021bilor. A\u0219a cum prin citire \u0219i ascultare corpul \u00ee\u0219i formeaz\u0103 gustul pentru abstrac\u021biuni \u0219i schimb de idei, unele libr\u0103rii ne aduc aminte c\u0103 tot corpul este cel care are nevoie de hidratare \u0219i alimenta\u021bie. O can\u0103 inscrip\u021bionat\u0103 cu numele unei libr\u0103rii sau al unei edituri \u00ee\u021bi va aminti, de fiecare dat\u0103 c\u00e2nd o prive\u0219ti, at\u00e2t de lectur\u0103, c\u00e2t \u0219i de hidratare. Pe de alt\u0103 parte, hipermarketurile au adus \u0219i ele sub acela\u0219i acoperi\u0219 raioanele cu alimente \u0219i raioanele cu c\u0103r\u021bi, le despart numai c\u00e2teva zeci de pa\u0219i, iar c\u0103ruciorul este suficient de mare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dac\u0103 \u021binem cont de raportul str\u00e2ns dintre literatur\u0103 \u0219i gastronomie, se poate spune c\u0103 traducerile sunt feluri de m\u00e2ncare din buc\u0103t\u0103ria interna\u021bional\u0103, oferite la nivel local, al\u0103turi de produc\u021biile autohtone. Traduc\u0103torii \u2013 \u201ebuc\u0103tari iscusi\u021bi\u201d \u2013 contribuie la formarea gustului \u00een r\u00e2ndul cititorilor. Dac\u0103 pot face sau nu traducerile o literatur\u0103 r\u0103m\u00e2ne de v\u0103zut. Dezbaterea continu\u0103. R\u0103spunsul \u2013 pe care doar istoria \u00eel poate da \u2013 depinde \u00een mare m\u0103sur\u0103 de \u201ecum se prepar\u0103\u201d, \u201ecum se consum\u0103\u201d \u0219i \u201ecum se recicleaz\u0103\u201d traducerile, dac\u0103 \u201ebuc\u0103t\u0103riile\u201d sunt suficient de bine dotate cu instrumentar \u0219i \u201ec\u0103r\u021bi de bucate\u201d, dac\u0103 au personal calificat \u0219i specializat, dac\u0103 exist\u0103 loc pentru experiment, creativitate \u0219i competi\u021bie; nu \u00een ultimul r\u00e2nd, dac\u0103 cititorii devin con\u0219tien\u021bi unde \u00eei poate duce lectura, cum \u0219i \u00een ce \u00eei poate transforma \u0219i cine ar putea deveni, ei \u0219i cei din jurul lor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pentru c\u0103 vacan\u021ba de iarn\u0103 \u00eenseamn\u0103 timp at\u00e2t pentru citit, c\u00e2t \u0219i pentru g\u0103tit \u0219i savurat bucatele de Cr\u0103ciun \u0219i de Anul Nou, continu\u0103m sondajul \u00een r\u00e2ndul celor care se \u00eendeletnicesc cu traduceri literare, pentru a afla ce alimente \u0219i b\u0103uturi, ce obiceiuri \u0219i experien\u021be ies \u00een eviden\u021b\u0103 prin c\u0103r\u021bile care le-au trecut prin m\u00e2ini \u00een ultimii ani \u0219i ce impresii le-au l\u0103sat. Odat\u0103 cu sacalele, cu ghiumurile, cu n\u0103strapele, cu restul dichisurilor care le defineau rosturile \u0219i care se preschimbau, cu timpul, \u00een adev\u0103rate prelungiri ale trupurilor lor, ei purtau de pe o uli\u021b\u0103 pe alta, dintr-un cartier \u00een altul basne, vise, n\u0103luciri, leg\u00e2nd astfel urbea prin mii de fire nev\u0103zute, aidoma unor veritabili \u201epovesta\u0219i\u201d ai vechii lumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ginga\u0219ul \u0219i candidul Mevlut Karata\u0219, bragagiul care cutreier\u0103 neab\u0103tut, sear\u0103 de sear\u0103, ca un duh nocturn, fosta capital\u0103 imperial\u0103, care se simte \u00eempu\u021binat ori de c\u00e2te ori se abate de la datorie, av\u00e2nd sentimentul c\u0103 pierde contactul cu \u201ealchimia\u201d ora\u0219ului, este \u00eencredin\u021bat c\u0103 \u201evocea t\u00e2nguioas\u0103\u201d a v\u00e2nz\u0103torului, care r\u0103zbate prin \u00eentunericul \u00eencremenit aidoma unui strig\u0103t de speran\u021b\u0103, este cea care vinde, de fapt, braga; vocea aceea are menirea de a le aminti oamenilor c\u0103 \u201ebraga e b\u0103utura mo\u0219ilor \u0219i str\u0103mo\u0219ilor lor\u201d. Braga este sortit\u0103 s\u0103 p\u0103trund\u0103 \u00een toate casele, oric\u00e2t de s\u0103rmane ar fi ele \u2013 ea \u00eenc\u0103lze\u0219te inimile, \u00eembl\u00e2nze\u0219te privirile \u0219i dezleag\u0103 limbile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Poate pentru c\u0103 are, totu\u0219i, alcool?! \u201eBraga nu are alcool!\u201d, afirm\u0103 Mevlut netulburat, de\u0219i \u0219tie foarte bine c\u0103 afirma\u021bia sa nu este \u00eentru totul adev\u0103rat\u0103 \u0219i c\u0103 mai vechea \u00eenver\u0219unare a teologilor islamici \u00eempotriva ei \u00ee\u0219i are propriile temeiuri. Obiect de ve\u0219nice suspiciuni, de \u00eenvinuiri \u0219i prohibi\u021bii repetate, la fel ca alte substan\u021be socotite vinovate de alterarea condi\u021biei fiziologice fire\u0219ti a omului, precum vinul (\u201eintoxicantul\u201d mitic), tutunul, cafeaua ori opiumul, braga este deopotriv\u0103 iubit\u0103 (de c\u0103tre unii, cu mic, cu mare) \u0219i hulit\u0103 (de c\u0103tre \u201eal\u021bii\u201d, ap\u0103r\u0103tori \u00eend\u00e2rji\u021bi ai \u201edreptei c\u0103i\u201d scripturale), evolu\u00e2nd invariabil la limita mereu fragil\u0103 care desparte licitul de ilicit, ba chiar, uneori, via\u021ba de moarte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nu este de mirare, prin urmare, c\u0103 licoarea caut\u0103 s\u0103 se legitimeze accept\u00e2nd, \u201edemocratic\u201d, diversitatea: astfel apar braga dulce (cea \u201ebun\u0103\u201d, \u201elegiuit\u0103\u201d, \u201epravilniceasc\u0103\u201d) \u0219i braga acr\u0103, cu un con\u021binut modest de alcool (a\u0219adar, principial \u201erea\u201d, \u201enelegiuit\u0103\u201d, \u201ene\u00eeng\u0103duit\u0103\u201d), numit\u0103 c\u00e2nd \u201ebrag\u0103 t\u0103t\u0103reasc\u0103\u201d, c\u00e2nd \u201ebrag\u0103 armeneasc\u0103\u201d; gurile slobode afirm\u0103 uneori despre cea din urm\u0103 c\u0103 ar fi fost \u201eagrementat\u0103\u201d cu opium. Peter, un b\u0103iat sensibil de doisprezece ani dintr-o familie apar\u021bin\u00e2nd burgheziei austro-ungare din T\u00e2rgu Mure\u0219, \u00ee\u0219i petrece copil\u0103ria juc\u00e2ndu-se pe str\u0103zi cu prietenii de-o v\u00e2rst\u0103, precum \u0219i acas\u0103, unde dou\u0103 dintre figurile cele mai pregnante sunt bunicul \u0219i bunica. Dac\u0103 bunicul, doctorul Heimann, are un cabinet de consulta\u021bii \u201ecu mobilier din lemn masiv de nuc \u0219i furnir nobil \u00een stil Gr\u00fcnderzeit\u201d, amintirea bunicii este legat\u0103 de buc\u0103t\u0103ria spa\u021bioas\u0103, unde Peter tr\u0103ie\u0219te \u00eentr-o \u201elume de miresme \u0219i mirosuri, care trimiteau la sentimente \u0219i la culori.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Buc\u0103t\u0103ria aceasta se transforma \u00eentr-o adev\u0103rat\u0103 sal\u0103 de opera\u021bii \u00een ziua preg\u0103tirii \u0219trudelului cu mere, specialitatea bunicii. Acestei pl\u0103cinte din foi sub\u021biri umplute cu mere \u2013 desert de origine arab\u0103, ajuns \u00een Austria \u00een secolele XVI-XVII \u00een urma repetatelor asedii ale Vienei, loc unde \u00ee\u0219i va primi \u0219i numele, care \u00een limba german\u0103 \u00eenseamn\u0103 \u201ev\u00e2rtej\u201d \u2013 autorul \u00eei dedic\u0103 un \u00eentreg capitol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Impresionant\u0103 este, \u00eenainte de toate, ordinea din buc\u0103t\u0103ria bunicii, premerg\u0103toare prepar\u0103rii \u0219trudelului. Totul este la locul lui: tig\u0103ile \u0219i crati\u021bele de cupru \u00een c\u00e2rligele de alam\u0103, sticlele verzi cu con\u021binuturi tulburi de fructe \u0219i ierburi, ma\u0219ina de g\u0103tit lustruit\u0103 \u0219i masa lat\u0103, \u201eacoperit\u0103 cu un \u0219ervet alb str\u0103lucitor, pe care trona un blat din lemn bine frecat cu peria\u201d. Urmeaz\u0103 descrierea minu\u021bioas\u0103 a fiec\u0103rei etape a prepar\u0103rii. \u00cen fragmentul cu un puternic impact vizual, bunica este vioaie \u0219i luminoas\u0103. O vedem clar cum cerne f\u0103ina \u2013 \u201ecu mi\u0219c\u0103ri ritmice \u0219i scurte, de parc\u0103 ar fi m\u00e2nuit o tamburin\u0103\u201d \u2013 face o ad\u00e2ncitur\u0103 \u0219i adaug\u0103 un ou, \u00ee\u0219i cur\u0103\u021b\u0103 degetele \u0219i palmele de coc\u0103, fr\u0103m\u00e2nt\u0103 aluatul \u201ep\u00e2n\u0103 cap\u0103t\u0103 un luciu mat\u201d, formeaz\u0103 un guguloi pe care \u00eel unge cu o pensul\u0103 din pene albe de ra\u021b\u0103 \u0219i \u00eel transfer\u0103 \u00eentr-un castron de cristal uria\u0219. Scena se \u00eenmiresmeaz\u0103 c\u00e2nd Marischa \u0219i Ester, ajutoarele bunicii, cur\u0103\u021b\u0103 merele \u0219i spal\u0103 stafidele, pe care le \u00eenmoaie \u00een rom. Sucul acri\u0219or al merelor se combin\u0103 cu dulcea\u021ba stafidelor \u0219i cu aroma floral\u0103 de rom. \u0218i peste toate, scor\u021bi\u0219oara, cu aroma ei lemnoas\u0103 \u00een\u021bep\u0103toare. \u201eScor\u021bi\u0219oara, safidele, merele proaspete \u0219i urmele discrete de rom aveau un gust dumnezeiesc.\u201d Mai mult, poate, dec\u00e2t mirosul degajat din cuptor, b\u0103iatului \u00eei va r\u0103m\u00e2ne \u00eentip\u0103rit\u0103 p\u00e2n\u0103 la sf\u00e2r\u0219itul vie\u021bii lec\u021bia de m\u0103iestrie a \u00eentinderii foii de \u0219trudel, \u201ea\u0219a de sub\u021bire, \u00eenc\u00e2t s\u0103 po\u021bi citi ziarul prin ea\u201d. Compara\u021bia poate fi dus\u0103 mai departe. Se spune c\u0103 o re\u021bet\u0103 identic\u0103, preparat\u0103 de doi buc\u0103tari, nu conduce la acela\u0219i rezultat. Tot astfel, o sintagm\u0103 identic\u0103, pe terenul unor limbi distincte, poate ajunge s\u0103 desemneze no\u021biuni foarte diferite: pentru rom\u00e2ni, \u201elaptele de pas\u0103re\u201d este un desert; pentru spanioli, este o floare, <em>leche de paj\u00e1ro<\/em>, adic\u0103 b\u0103lu\u0219ca sau steaua Betleemului. Nu \u00een ultimul r\u00e2nd, o asociere de cuvinte fantezist\u0103 poate absorbi tot at\u00e2ta specific na\u021bional c\u00e2t o \u00eembinare fistichie de ingrediente: \u201esupa de vi\u0219ine\u201d, <em>meggyleves<\/em>, este o compozi\u021bie la fel de ungureasc\u0103 precum compusul lexical \u201elocul soacrei\u201d, <em>any\u00f3s\u00fcl\u00e9s<\/em>, expresia prin care maghiarii desemneaz\u0103 a\u0219a-numitul \u201eloc al mortului\u201d, servindu-ne astfel o por\u021bie de umor nu mai pu\u021bin picant dec\u00e2t buc\u0103t\u0103ria lor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A\u0219a st\u00e2nd lucrurile, nici nu este de mirare c\u0103 vocabularul gastronomic mi\u0219un\u0103, el \u00eensu\u0219i, de idiotisme, acele expresii care nu pot fi traduse dintr-o limb\u0103 \u00een alta cuv\u00e2nt cu cuv\u00e2nt. Este vorba de nume de ingrediente \u0219i garnituri, dar \u0219i de m\u00e2nc\u0103ruri \u00een toat\u0103 regula. \u201eLegumele mexicane\u201d pot s\u0103 provin\u0103 \u0219i din Rom\u00e2nia, la fel cum este posibil ca un \u201e\u0219ir indian\u201d s\u0103 fie alc\u0103tuit \u00een \u00eentregime din coreeni. Iar\u0103\u0219i, dup\u0103 cum \u201ecutia neagr\u0103\u201d este de fapt oranj, tot a\u0219a, \u00een limba maghiar\u0103, sintagma \u201eceap\u0103 ro\u0219ie\u201d, <em>v\u00f6r\u00f6s hagyma<\/em>, desemneaz\u0103 ceapa alb\u0103, oric\u00e2t de ilogic ar p\u0103rea (\u00eentreba\u021bi un nativ, dac\u0103 nu crede\u021bi)!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Evident, gastrononomia nu doar c\u0103 produce expresii idiomatice, ci furnizeaz\u0103 ea \u00eens\u0103\u0219i termeni pentru idiotisme din afara ariei sale. A\u0219a cum hotdogul nu are nicio leg\u0103tur\u0103 cu c\u00e2inii sau canicula, ci este numele unei gust\u0103ri, nici sintagma <em>cold turkey<\/em> nu desemneaz\u0103 doar un mod de a consuma carnea de curcan, ci alegerea brusc\u0103 de a nu mai consuma droguri. Alteori, asemenea exporturi se petrec chiar \u00eentre felii diferite ale vocabularului gastronomic: \u00een timp ce \u201em\u00e2nc\u0103rica de gutui\u201d \u2013 a c\u0103rei denumire nu are de altfel nimic idiomatic \u2013 trece drept un fel serios de m\u00e2ncare, \u201esl\u0103ninu\u021ba din cer\u201d, <em>tocinillo de cielo<\/em>, este, dimpotriv\u0103, numele unui desert foarte popular \u00een Spania. Cea din urm\u0103 se men\u021bioneaz\u0103 \u00een <a href=\"https:\/\/humanitas.ro\/humanitas-fiction\/carte\/cofetaria-cu-miracole\"><em>Cofet\u0103ria cu miracole<\/em><\/a> de Christian Escrib\u00e0 \u0219i S\u00edlvia Tarrag\u00f3 (Humanitas, 2020): \u201eC\u0103lug\u0103ri\u021bele limpezeau vinul cu albu\u0219 de ou \u0219i le-a venit ideea s\u0103 fac\u0103 ceva \u0219i cu g\u0103lbenu\u0219urile r\u0103mase. A\u0219a c\u0103 au creat o pr\u0103jitur\u0103 \u0219i i-au pus \u0219i numele: <em>sl\u0103ninu\u021b\u0103 din cer<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cu greu vom \u00eent\u00e2lni, cred, un idiotism al c\u0103rui tipar sintactic \u0219i\/sau semantic s\u0103 nu se reg\u0103seasc\u0103, \u00een cele din urm\u0103, printre turn\u00farile expresiilor culinare. Din acest motiv, am tr\u0103it mereu cu g\u00e2ndul, prea pu\u021bin \u0219tiin\u021bific, c\u0103 cele dint\u00e2i idiotisme trebuie s\u0103 fi fost sau gastronomice, sau, \u00een tot cazul, expresii calchiate, prin cine \u0219tie ce proces cognitiv, dup\u0103 misterioasa sintax\u0103 a ingredientelor culinare. P\u00e2n\u0103 \u0219i laptele este, de fapt, un preparat \u2013 cel pu\u021bin \u00een cazul omului, a c\u0103rui diet\u0103, at\u00e2t de variat\u0103, const\u0103 adeseori din m\u00e2nc\u0103ruri elaborate. Reflexe ale oric\u0103rei limbi vii, idiotismele par \u0219i ele, la r\u00e2ndul lor, s\u0103 se formeze \u00een virtutea aceluia\u0219i principiu alchimic care ac\u021bioneaz\u0103 \u00een lapte.
