Deopotriv\u0103 pilde \u0219i farse comice, sumbre \u0219i violente p\u00een\u0103 la limita cu absurdul, aceste povestiri impregnate de moarte (cancer, crime, accidente fatale, 9\/11), ating\u00eend deseori \u0219i tema dublului, s\u00eent populate de personaje \u201eviciate\u201d memorabile: veterani ologi, alcoolici demen\u021bi, pu\u0219c\u0103ria\u0219i vizionari, scriitori nebuni sau muribunzi. Tr\u0103ite sau doar relatate de t\u00een\u0103rul cadet, situa\u021biile marcate de abuzuri, umilin\u021be, torturi \u0219i execu\u021bii s\u00eent mici bijuterii stilistice despre hazard \u0219i fatalitate, despre noroc, fric\u0103, la\u0219itate \u0219i regret, despre teribila poezie a distrugerii.
