Nu era el omul care s\u0103-\u015fi piard\u0103 vremea cu catastife \u015fi scrieri necunoscute, a\u015fa c\u0103 n-ar fi \u015ftiut s\u0103 spun\u0103 ce \u00eel \u00eempinsese s\u0103 se ca\u0163\u0103re pe pervaz \u015fi s\u0103 r\u0103sfoiasc\u0103 prin teancul de foi. \u00cen marginea lor, din loc \u00een loc erau zugr\u0103vite cu tr\u0103s\u0103turi ginga\u015fe \u015fi limpezi \u00eenf\u0103\u0163i\u015f\u0103ri de viet\u0103\u0163i: o vidr\u0103 ridicat\u0103 \u00een dou\u0103 labe, un corb cu aripile larg deschise, un pardos fioros, un elefant cu trompa ridicat\u0103, o mul\u0163ime de pe\u015fti. A\u015fadar, prin\u0163ul era un c\u0103rturar, care se \u00eendeletnicea cu viet\u0103\u0163ile de pe p\u0103m\u00e2nt, din aer \u015fi din ap\u0103, \u00ee\u015fi zise Schlick, d\u00e2ndu-se jos de pe pervaz \u015fi pierz\u00e2ndu-\u015fi orice curiozitate fa\u0163\u0103 de \u00eendeletnicirile prin\u0163ului.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dimitrie Cantemir (1673-1723), om de stat \u015fi prolific om de litere, a fost domn al Moldovei (martie-aprilie 1693 \u015fi 1710-1711) \u015fi una din cele mai str\u0103lucite figuri ale iluminismului european. Victoria austriac\u0103 asupra turcilor \u00een b\u0103t\u0103lia de la Zenta (1697) l-a \u00eencredin\u0163at c\u0103 Imperiul Otoman se afla \u00een pragul declinului; ca atare, \u00een r\u0103zboiul ruso-turc din 1710-1711 a trecut de partea lui Petru cel Mare. \u00cen urma victoriei otomane \u00een b\u0103t\u0103lia de la St\u0103nile\u015fti (1711) s-a refugiat \u00een Rusia, unde \u015fi-a petrecut tot restul vie\u0163ii, ca apropiat \u015fi mai apoi senator al \u0163arului. \u00cen exil \u015fi-a scris cea mai mare parte a operei: monumentala <em>Istorie a Imperiului Otoman<\/em>, care a r\u0103mas p\u00e2n\u0103 la mijlocul secolului al XIX-lea opera de referin\u0163\u0103 pe acest subiect \u00een istoriografia european\u0103, <em>Descrierea Moldovei<\/em>, scris\u0103 la cererea Academiei de \u015etiin\u0163e de la Berlin, al c\u0103rei membru era, sau <em>Hronicul vechimei a romano-moldo-vlahilor<\/em>. Vasta sa oper\u0103 acoper\u0103 domenii variate: a fost istoric \u015fi filosof, etnograf \u015fi lingvist, compozitor \u015fi muzicolog, dar \u015fi autorul celui dint\u00e2i roman din literatura rom\u00e2n\u0103, <em>Istoria ieroglific\u0103<\/em>. Vorbea \u015fi scria \u00een unsprezece limbi \u015fi a fost unul din primii orientali\u015fti europeni. Cu deosebire \u00eensemnat este tratatul s\u0103u de teorie a muzicii otomane, care cuprinde \u015fi piese muzicale tradi\u0163ionale \u015fi contemporane lui, pentru transcrierea c\u0103rora a elaborat un sistem propriu de notare muzical\u0103 derivat din alfabetul arab, primul de acest fel din cultura otoman\u0103.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>Fragment<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014 \u00cemi c\u00eenta bunic\u0103-mea, rosti vis\u0103tor Ibrahim bei, f\u0103r\u0103 s\u0103 bage m\u0103car de seam\u0103 c\u0103 \u00eentrerupe, ni\u015fte c\u00eentece a\u015fa duioase c\u0103 \u015fi acum \u00eemi dau lacrimile c\u00eend mi-amintesc. C\u00eentece de unde era ea fat\u0103, din mun\u0163ii Karamaniei, c\u00eent\u0103ri vechi &#8230; mare p\u0103cat c\u0103 nu \u015ftie mai mult\u0103 lume de ele &#8230; aici la Stambul sunt at\u00eetea \u00eenr\u00eeuriri, ar\u0103be\u015fti \u015fi persiene\u015fti \u015fi grece\u015fti, \u00eenc\u00eet c\u00eent\u0103rile astea de la \u0163ar\u0103 nu mai \u00eencap &#8230; or s\u0103 cad\u0103 prad\u0103 uit\u0103rii &#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014 Ca toate lucrurile omene\u015fti, zise Rami Mehmed cu oarecare ner\u0103bdare fa\u0163\u0103 de \u00eentors\u0103tura filosofic\u0103 pe care o lua \u00eentrunirea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014 De ce, totu\u015fi? \u00eentreb\u0103 Kantemiro\u011flu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00cei pierise z\u00eembetul \u00eenc\u00eentat \u015fi chipul \u00eei luase \u00eenf\u0103\u0163i\u015farea b\u0103t\u0103ioas\u0103 pe care Dimos o \u015ftia prea bine, de la \u015fcoal\u0103. Se \u015ftiau \u00eemprejur\u0103ri \u00een care dasc\u0103li mai slabi de \u00eenger d\u0103duser\u0103 bir cu fugi\u0163ii dinaintea lui Kantemiro\u011flu c\u00eend avea uit\u0103tura asta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ceilal\u0163i \u00eel priveau f\u0103r\u0103 s\u0103 \u00een\u0163eleag\u0103.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014 Cum de ce? se \u00eencrunt\u0103 Cerchez Mehmet. <em>\u015ei tot ce vi se d\u0103 vou\u0103 este bucurie trec\u0103toare pentru via\u0163a din aceast\u0103 lume, \u00eens\u0103<\/em> &#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014 &#8230; <em>ceea ce se afl\u0103 la Allah este mai bun \u015fi mai d\u0103inuitor pentru aceia care cred \u015fi se \u00eencred \u00een Domnul lor<\/em>, sf\u00eer\u015fi Kantemiro\u011flu, \u015fi Dimos, care \u00eenchisese str\u00eens ochii la vorbele profetului p\u0103g\u00eenilor, \u00eei deschise iar auzindu-i ner\u0103bdarea din glas. Dar asta tot nu ne spune de ce c\u00eent\u0103rile voastre, oric\u00eet ar fi de trec\u0103toare bucuria pe care ne-o dau, <em>trebuie<\/em> s\u0103 fie uitate!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014 P\u0103i c\u00eete c\u00eent\u0103ri crezi c\u0103 poate \u0163ine minte un om? r\u00eese Cerchez Mehmet. De-ar tr\u0103i el \u015fi o sut\u0103 de ani \u015fi-ar avea o sut\u0103 de \u00eenv\u0103\u0163\u0103cei &#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014 Nu trebuie s\u0103 le \u0163in\u0103 minte, \u00eei t\u0103ie vorba Kantemiro\u011flu, trebuie s\u0103 le scrie!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>T\u0103cere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014 A, zise Farrokh Khan s\u0103lt\u00eend pe pernele sale, a\u015fa cum fac fr\u00eencii, cu puncti\u015foare \u015fi viermi\u015fori pe h\u00eertie?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014 Nu chiar a\u015fa, r\u0103spunse beizadeaua \u00eencrunt\u00eendu-se. Muzica fr\u00eencilor e altfel &#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014 Las\u0103, zise tihnit Cerchez Mehmet, c\u0103 nu-i nevoie s\u0103 le \u00eemprumut\u0103m chiar pe toate ale fr\u00eencilor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kantemiro\u011flu, tot \u00eencruntat, \u00eei p\u0103rea lui Dimos c\u0103-\u015fi alege cu grij\u0103 r\u0103spunsul. \u00cen cele din urm\u0103 zise:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014 Nu v\u0103d ce-ar fi r\u0103u \u00een asta. Ar fi dimpotriv\u0103 folositor, ar \u00eeng\u0103dui s\u0103 fie p\u0103strate lucruri care altminteri s-ar pierde, ar \u00eensemna c\u0103 \u015fi muzica osman\u0103 se afl\u0103 la aceea\u015fi \u00een\u0103l\u0163ime cu &#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014 Muzica osman\u0103 se afl\u0103 oricum mai presus de orice soi de muzic\u0103 fr\u00eenceasc\u0103, r\u00eese Ibrahim bei. \u0162in minte c\u00eend m-au poftit odat\u0103 la capuchehaia fr\u00eencilor &#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014 Munc\u0103 de scrib, se str\u00eemb\u0103 Baltac\u0131 Mehmed. Nu m\u0103 prea pricep eu la c\u00eent\u0103ri, dar \u00eemi pare c\u0103 m\u00eeinii care ciupe\u015fte strunele l\u0103utei nu i-ar sta la fel de bine s\u0103 \u0163in\u0103 pana. La fel cum m\u00eena care m\u00eenuie\u015fte sabia &#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014 Da, dac\u0103 doar le scrii, se \u00eempotrivi Kantemiro\u011flu, dar eu vorbeam despre pl\u0103smuirea unei sistime, despre &#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014 E\u015fti t\u00een\u0103r, Kantemiro\u011flu bei, rosti \u00eencet Farrokh Khan, \u015fi \u00eenc\u0103 n-ai \u00eenv\u0103\u0163at c\u0103 nu orice n\u0103scocire folositoare pentru a u\u015fura truda oamenilor e bun\u0103 \u015fi pentru cuget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beizadeaua \u00eentoarse spre el o privire \u00eenfl\u0103c\u0103rat\u0103.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014 Lucrurile prinse \u00een scris, ca g\u00eeng\u0103niile prinse \u00een ace, \u00eenceteaz\u0103 treptat s\u0103 mai fie vii, urm\u0103 persanul aproape \u00een \u015foapt\u0103, apoi, \u00eenfrunt\u00eend privirea lui Kantemiro\u011flu: Dar vom mai vorbi noi despre acestea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dimos urm\u0103ri de la locul s\u0103u cum flac\u0103ra se stinse \u00een ochii beizadelei, chipul \u00ee\u015fi pierdu \u00eembujorarea, tr\u0103s\u0103turile se domolir\u0103 p\u00een\u0103 la lini\u015ftea pietrei. Privirea i se ab\u0103tu de pe chipul solului \u015fi \u00eei cuprinse \u00eencet pe to\u0163i cei de fa\u0163\u0103, unii cu ochii \u00eenc\u0103 la el, al\u0163ii care \u00eencepuser\u0103 s\u0103 vorbeasc\u0103 \u00eentre ei.
